In 2011 the University of North Carolina expanded Kenan Memorial Stadium with a new facility that serves nearly 800 student-athletes across 28 sports. In addition, the project included a new premium seating area called the Blue Zone. At that time Irwin Seating Company supplied the nearly 3,000 chairs - models 47.12.18.12 Millennium and 131.12.45.35 Centurion. Since the 2011 expansion, Irwin Seating has been privileged to supply an additional 35,000 Solara chairs to replace much of the bench seating. These chairs were provided with a short back to accommodate the building original 1927 footprint and row spacing. These chairs are supplied in a custom Carolina blue.
